FUN AND FESTIVE TARANTULA BIRTHDAY PARTY //
When my youngest asked for a tarantula/spider birthday party, I knew it’d be a challenge to make it fun and festive rather than creepy and crawly.
BUT! I think we pulled it off without giving anyone the heebie-jeebies thanks to some teeny tiny party hats and no spooky things in sight.
Even if you don’t see your child asking for a tarantula or spider party in your future, take a look around for halloween decorations and party ideas!

DECORATIONS
The cake table was set in front of a spiderweb tapestry and held treats, tarantula and spider figurines, and cans of spiderwebs (also known as silly string) for the kids to shoot at each other after dessert!
I made Elliott’s favorite chocolate chip cookies and piped melted milk chocolate on them to look like spiders.
HACK ALERT: A bedsheet makes a great tablecloth! I used this blue gingham sheet from my boys’ room which is way more fun than the plain white table cloths I had in the closet.
Mini party hats made out of scrapbook paper and a pom pom instantly took each tarantula or spider from frightening to friendly.
We ordered pizza for dinner and served it with fresh strawberries and pasta salad coated with homemade Italian dressing. I put utensils in these spiderweb candle holders and added a few more spiders to some fresh flowers. (Compliments of my little brother and his wife’s wedding– thanks newlyweds!)

OUTFITS
Figuring out what to wear is one of my favorite parts of parties and events!
HACK ALERT: Use self adhesive felt or foam to decorate shirts and keep them from becoming a single use clothing item.
I used some self adhesive felt sheets to cut out a spiderweb and put on my shirt so it wasn’t ruined once the party was over.
I also used self adhesive felt for Brooks’ white shirt so he could wear it again. I cut circles out and hot glued fake spiders to them, then peeled and placed them on.
Chase’s yellow shirt has self adhesive foam letters on it. I can’t think of another time he’ll need to wear a shirt that says daddy (cringe) on it, so this was the perfect solution.

Each guest stood in front of a giant wall spiderweb and got to pose with a “oooo so cute!!!” (according to the birthday boy) green tarantula stuffie.
It’s so fun to see each person put their own personality into their shot and we love looking back at these over the years.

The kids had a blast running around spraying spiderwebs at each other.(You may know it as silly string.) We also had spider and tarantula tattoos or stickers for those who didn’t want anything on their skin.
I hope you find some inspo or ideas here for your next party! Make those memories.
