SCIENCE LAB BIRTHDAY PARTY //

We threw a science lab birthday party for Brooks to celebrate turning five years old. I’m sharing all the details with you, full of hands-on science activities, original + custom downloads, colorful invitations, and fun sources.

DECORATIONS

The cake table was set in front of an oversized periodic table of elements tapestry, surrounded by all things science– including the cutest lab rat you’ve ever seen.

Test tubes were filled with M&M’s and Skittles while beakers were filled with Nerds and sprinkles. There were a few science experimental tools with signs that explained what was happening along with a microscope. Magnifying glasses and splash goggles were scattered about and 300ml plastic beakers were ready to be filled with drinks.

OUTFITS

Figuring out what to wear is one of my favorite parts of parties! The birthday boy’s and my outfits were ordered, and I made little brother’s. (Chase was suppose to wear his lab coat from work and totally forgot it. 🤷🏼‍♀️)

CAKE

I kept the decorations easy because the cake is so yummy, I didn’t feel the need to make the adornments out of fondant. I know some people say anything on a cake should be editable, but that is not me.

PHOTOBOOTH

Each guest stood in front of a science backdrop and held an exaggerated lightbulb lamp on their head to make it look like they had a great idea. It was a fun and easy activity and we love looking back at it!

EXPERIMENTS

Seeing the wonder and joy these simple experiments brought to the kids’ faces was worth all the planning and organizing.

Each little scientist got a science lab badge on a lanyard with a magnifying glass hooked on it.

The hand boiler and plasma ball were super easy and the kids went back to both of them time after time.

We also did this frozen water and oil experiment I found on hello wonderful. Each kid also dropped a tablet of Alka Seltzer in to make it bubble!

Lastly, we did a volcano with a kit I found at a local store.
